The Scottish Connection Douglas Tartan Leave a comment

In 1949 the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) were affiliated officially with 7th Gurkha Rifles and to mark the occasion the Regiment asked that the 7th Gurkhas should wear their tartan – the Douglas. The Cameronians were also designated a rifle regiment, the officers and men were clothed in the distinctive Rifle Green cloth with bands of black thistle lace on the shako and black cords. The Douglas tartan is worn to this day by the RGR Pipes and Drums.
